Cinderella Story Is Ended for Melanie Oudin

No more surprises from Melanie Oudin in the United States Open grand slam. The 18-year-old tennis players got the nickname, Cinderella, last year because of her success story through the quarter-finals. But the Cinderella story ended this year after Oudin lost to Ukrainian tennis player, Alona Bondarenko, 6-2, 7-5, in the second round. “It is difficult to return, especially after the U.S. Open that achieved last year and people keep hoping I can do it again,” said Oudin, who once ranked second in the world junior level. “Expectation fans are too high for me.”

Last year, Oudin made public Flushing Meadows in New York stunned by his achievement. As a teenager who has not been known to lovers of world tennis, Oudin appeared at that time by beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova appealing in the first round, Elena Dementieva in the second round, Maria Sharapova in the third round, and Nadia Petrova in the fourth round. In the quarterfinals, Oudin’s step was stopped by Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki who this year became the top seed.

“My hope, I still have 10 more years in my career, hopefully it can be 10 more times of U.S. Open. I’m definitely waiting for next year’s event. This tournament will still be my favorite tournament, “said Oudin.
